June 17, 2026: First Look at The Wetlands at Disney Lakeshore Lodge
Let’s talk about The Wetlands! This sweeping outdoor recreation area, just beyond the lobby, will be your perfect escape. Imagine relaxing and reconnecting with nature, all while surrounded by the beauty of Bay Lake.
Disney designed The Wetlands for both ultimate fun and pure relaxation. Younger guests will dive right into nature’s story through whimsical wet and dry play areas. And guess what? They’re inspired by the beautiful music and storytelling of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Pocahontas. Remember the lyrics “the heron and the otter are my friends” from “Colors of the Wind”? These vibrant spaces bring those playful connections in nature to life.

Get ready for Heron Shores, a spot for exploration and hands-on play with awesome climbing features. Just around the riverbend, Otter Springs bursts to life with interactive water features. Little ones can splash and slide their way to cool down there!
Want to just float? The lazy Daydream River invites you to sit back and relax. Let the current carry you through the recreation area, enjoying those beautiful landscape views.

The heart of The Wetlands? That’s Lakeside Lagoon. It’s the resort’s zero-entry feature pool where everyone can gather under the Florida sun. Oh, and it has a spiral waterslide too – straight into that refreshing water!
For something a bit quieter, Perspective Pond hides away on the opposite side. This leisure pool and whirlpool spa is perfectly positioned for stunning Magic Kingdom fireworks views in the evenings.
Imagine starting your morning with a peaceful float down the Daydream River, or ending your day watching the sunset over Bay Lake. Every corner of The Wetlands offers a unique connection to nature. It’s that perfect balance of breathtaking beauty, tranquility, discovery, and play.
Stroll along the scenic paths, and you’ll even uncover fun facts about the local plants and animals all around you. And keep an eye out! There’s a special plaque honoring a beloved historic attraction that once stood right here. A nice nod to Disney history!
The best part? All this fun is just a boat ride away from Magic Kingdom! Staying at a Disney World hotel means incredible amenities, complimentary transportation across the resort, and even extra time in the parks.
