  • Plunge into Fun: Why H2O Glow After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon Lights Up My Summer!

Imagine a summer night filled with dancing, endless Mickey Ice Cream Bars, and thrilling six-foot waves. There’s only one place where all this magic comes alive, alongside exhilarating waterslides: H2O Glow After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon.

Rumors flew that a certain superstar would headline the dance party this year. My husband, Todd, and I just had to snag tickets for one of the thirteen special nights available this summer. I can’t wait to show you why this event stands out as my absolute favorite After Hours experience at Walt Disney World.

    Say Hello to Laguna Gator

Forget the red carpet; here, it’s all about the sandy one! This is the place to stop for a photo with the Laguna Gator statue. We all tend to tuck our phones away once we hit the water, so I always grab this opportunity for a group shot before my hair gets soaked.

Look to the right of the path into the park to take advantage of this ‘hidden’ spot.

Just a bit further down the path, another fantastic photo spot awaits. I paused to admire Miss Tilly – that iconic 20th-century shrimping vessel stranded atop Mount Mayday – peeking through one of the spyglass stations. It’s a classic view! Speaking of photos, here’s a tip from me: when you pack for Typhoon Lagoon, throw in a cute cover-up. It’s perfect for these early photo ops while the sun still hangs low!

It’s Totally Rad to Be Early

Getting into H2O Glow is a breeze, but listen to a pro tip: get there early! The party officially kicks off at 8:00 p.m. and wraps up at 11:00 p.m. However, showing up a bit ahead of time pays off. Day guests start leaving, so the park feels less crowded, and you’ll find plenty of lounge chairs for you and your friends.

There were so many chairs available to hang before the event started.

You can actually enter Typhoon Lagoon as early as 6:00 p.m., instantly adding two extra hours to your night! Use this time wisely: grab your complimentary towels at Singapore Sals, claim a comfy lounge chair, hit a few waterslides, and watch the park transform into a vibrant party hub.

Towels are included at H2O Glow, just stop by to pick them up.

Here’s a secret: all the attractions remain open during H2O Glow! We always hold off on the big slides until the party officially begins, knowing the lines will be much shorter then. Since we arrived early, Todd and I had ample time to stash our valuables in a locker (yes, there’s a small fee for those) and enjoy a leisurely dip before the main event.

Take a Dip and a Trip in Castaway Creek

Castaway Creek, the 2,000-foot long waterway that circles the entire park, is my favorite way to get around Typhoon Lagoon. For H2O Glow, it gets an incredible ‘glow-up’! As we drifted along, we spotted some fantastic new character inner tubes joining the fun: Sulley, Kevin, Nemo, and even WALL-E floated alongside us. So cool!

Cast members sprinkle this extra touch of magic during H2O Glow, making the night feel truly special. And yes, I absolutely tried to float with every single one of them!

Typhoon Lagoon Mt Mayday Trail Rain Blanken
H2O Glow has both party thrills and chill After Hours moments.

We briefly hopped off our watery highway for a detour. The Mt. Mayday Trail is a true hidden gem at Typhoon Lagoon. Trust me, the climb up during H2O Glow is worth it for a unique sunset view you won’t experience otherwise. The colors over the park are just stunning!

After that moment of calm, my ears perked up. The dance party below was heating up! Todd and I grabbed the next set of glittering tubes, floating back towards the front of the park. By now, the party had officially exploded, and a remixed DuckTales theme song acted as our siren call to the dance floor – or rather, the dance beach!

    It’s Party on the Beach

If there’s one thing I excel at, it’s spending all my After Hours time dancing! At Typhoon Lagoon, a DJ spins tracks right on the beach, making it incredibly easy to bust a move in the sand, right by the Surf Pool shore. The vibes are immaculate!

A crowd had already gathered when we arrived, and by ‘crowd,’ I mean Chip, Dale, Donald, and Daisy themselves! They were all there to dance and play, not just for photos or autographs. This laid-back, ‘hang-out’ vibe offers such a unique and personal way to interact with the characters. It’s truly special!

Todd and I were just dipping our toes in the Surf Pool when I heard it: “Boom boom clap, boom de clap de clap…” I immediately shouted to Todd, “I have to go!” Thankfully, he understood completely. Miley Cyrus’ Hoedown Throwdown was kicking off, and who did we see joining in? None other than Launchpad McQuack!

High fives and vibes abound on the sandy dance floor

I popped, locked, polka-dotted, and yes, even scored a high-five from Launchpad himself! Now that’s how you make unforgettable Disney memories!

    Powerline Max Character Greeting

Later, Powerline Max himself took to the stage, leading some incredible dance moves! Near Leaning Palms, they also set up a special character greeting area. We got to meet Max, snap some photos, and tell him how much we adored his electrifying performance. It was a dream come true for any Goofy Movie fan!
