  • Disney Magic Lights Up Hospital Wards for Kids at GHEF!

Imagine a hospital where the walls tell stories of adventure and friendship! That’s exactly what Disneyland Paris brought to the Grand Hôpital de l’Est Francilien (GHEF) in Jossigny.

The pediatric services now sparkle with brand new Disney-themed decorations, specially designed for children. While the pediatric emergency room enjoyed Disney murals since 2023, the entire pediatric service officially unveiled its magical transformation on April 23, with Natacha Rafalski and Mrs. Muller, GHEF’s Deputy General Director, on hand to celebrate.

Walt Disney Imagineering teams in Paris designed this amazing project. Their goal? Bring a little magic to a tough environment, creating a sense of calm for sick children.

You’ll find incredible frescoes featuring Disney characters across different universes, all perfectly adapted to the hospital’s pediatric spaces. From the corridors and waiting rooms to the examination rooms in the pediatric emergency area, there’s magic everywhere.

But wait, there’s more! Thanks to the Disney Team of Heroes app, kids can actually interact with these incredible décors using a smartphone or tablet. Imagine characters coming to life on screen, diving into worlds inspired by films like Zootopia, Cars, Finding Nemo, and even hanging out with Winnie the Pooh!

The Disneyland Paris teams worked hand-in-hand with the hospital staff to meet the specific needs of young patients. They carefully installed everything, paying special attention to glass surfaces to let light through while integrating the visuals seamlessly into the corridors. The first phase, for the pediatric emergency department, finished in early 2023. Now, the entire pediatric service shines bright since January 2026!

Madame Anne Muller, Deputy Director of GHEF, perfectly summed it up: « This initiative between GHEF and Disneyland Paris brings so much more than just decoration. It transforms the hospital experience for children. By creating a more playful and reassuring environment, these Disney-inspired universes help reduce anxiety related to care and foster a better experience during hospitalization, both for young patients and their families. It truly supports the work of the care teams, who can rely on these décors to establish a climate of trust and calm. »

This heartwarming step writes a new chapter in Disneyland Paris’s long-standing commitment to hospitalized children, a mission they’ve pursued since 1991. Remember seeing Disney characters, alongside Disney VoluntEARS, visiting hospitals, hosting painting workshops, and bringing cheer? They’ve brought surprise visits to over 40,000 children since 1991!

And when children can travel, hundreds of hospitalized kids also get to visit the Disney Parks throughout the year. What an incredible way to spread joy!

Through all these wonderful actions, Disneyland Paris continues its mission: bringing comfort, hope, and moments of joy to children and families who need it most. It really shows the heart behind the magic.
