Exclusive Character Encounters at Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom offers some truly special meet-and-greets you won’t find anywhere else. Let’s dive into those unique opportunities!

The Lion King Characters Await You in The Oasis

Get ready to run into some savanna royalty! You might spot Rafiki, the wise mandrill, ready to share some wisdom. Or perhaps Timon, the hilarious meerkat, who loves to hula. They often rotate every 30 minutes, starting about an hour after park opening most days. And trust me, you might even get Timon to do a little dance with you!

Pocahontas is Just Around the Riverbend in The Oasis

This is one of the most unique character greetings at Walt Disney World Resort. As you enter The Oasis, head right, just before the bridge to Discovery Island. You’ll find Pocahontas in a stunning, natural setting, perfectly suiting her adventurous spirit. It’s a truly magical photo op!

Zootopia’s Finest are on Duty on Discovery Island

Officers Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are on the case! You’ll find this dynamic duo at The Gathering Spot, right by the Tree of Life, close to the entrance for the Zootopia: Better Zoogether! area. These two crime-fighters are super popular, so plan some extra time for this meet-and-greet. It’s worth the wait!

Up Characters Seek Adventure on Discovery Island

While you’re exploring the Discovery Trails, keep your eyes peeled for Russell. His surprise visits don’t always show up in the My Disney Experience app, making him a true hidden gem for Wilderness Explorers to discover! For your best chance, enter the Discovery Trails to the left of the Tree of Life, just before the bridge to Africa.

You never know when you might also spot Kevin, with her vibrant colors that are impossible to miss, or the lovable Dug roaming Discovery Island. If you see Dug, be sure to ask him about squirrels – thanks to his special voice box, he might even chat back!

Ready, Set, Play! Join Bluey and Bingo at Animal Kingdom

This isn’t a typical meet-and-greet, but it’s an incredible, one-of-a-kind play experience! Head to Conservation Station by hopping on the Wildlife Express at Harambe Station (near the Kilimanjaro Safaris exit). Once there, get ready to dance with Bluey and Bingo, and join in games like Magic Asparagus, Keepy Uppy, and the Octopus Game. Pure fun!

Mickey and Friends in Their Safari Best!

Animal Kingdom is the only park where you’ll see Mickey Mouse and his pals dressed in their full safari gear – ready for adventure! It’s such a cool detail.

Start your day by heading right after you enter the park, towards Garden Gate Gifts, to find Donald Duck and Daisy Duck in their awesome safari outfits. Then, make sure to say hello to Mickey and Minnie themselves! They also sport khakis and safari hats at Adventurers Outpost, near the bridge to Asia.

As you venture further into Asia, turn right and keep an eye out for Goofy and Pluto. If you love unique character photos, these safari outfits are an absolute must-see!

Just a little tip from one fan to another: if you’re bringing little ones who are a bit shy about meeting characters, let them watch other guests interact for a few minutes. It helps them feel more comfortable. Remind them that a high five or a quick hello is perfectly fine. The characters are amazing at sensing a child’s comfort level and making them feel welcome.
