  • Shanghai Disney Resort Marks 10 Years of Making Magic Beyond the Parks

Shanghai Disney Resort just hit a big milestone, and it’s not just about the rides! On June 1, 2026, International Children’s Day, the resort unveiled its 10th Anniversary Community Report. This document isn’t just a corporate update; it’s a heartfelt look at how Disney brings hope, creativity, and a touch of magic to the broader community, far beyond the park gates, for children, families, and even seniors.

What makes this anniversary even sweeter? Just days before, the resort fulfilled its 500th Disney Wish! On May 27, 11-year-old Xixi, battling a critical illness, met her hero, Cinderella, and enjoyed an unforgettable day with her family at Shanghai Disneyland. This incredible milestone highlights a nine-year journey since the Disney Wish initiative began at the resort in 2017. Disney truly shines as the world’s leading wish-granter, making a dream come true somewhere on the globe every single hour.

Andrew Bolstein, President and General Manager of Shanghai Disney Resort, shared his enthusiasm. He noted that celebrating the 10th Anniversary Community Report and the 500th wish on International Children’s Day, right before the resort’s own 10th anniversary in June, is particularly meaningful. He emphasized how Shanghai Disney Resort carries on Disney’s tradition of positive community impact and environmental protection. For him, the report and the fulfilled wishes show Disney’s vital role in spreading joy, supporting those in need, fostering inclusion, and safeguarding our planet. He really hopes they can continue this positive work for many years.

While we all know Disney excels at creating magic for its guests, the resort’s dedication to giving back runs just as deep. In fact, these efforts began even before the park officially opened a decade ago! This new report really highlights that long-standing commitment to community, a core value that will undoubtedly continue to guide the resort for years to come.

So, what’s inside this report? It covers a decade of dedicated work: bringing smiles to children, families, and seniors, fostering creativity and learning in young people, championing environmental causes, and pushing for better accessibility and inclusion. A huge part of this success comes from the incredible Disney VoluntEARS. These passionate individuals have poured over 77,000 volunteer hours into the local community since 2011, touching the lives of roughly 1.75 million people and truly turning countless dreams into reality!

The report launched at a special 10th Anniversary Community Celebration. Nearly 1,000 guests, including past Wish children and their families, students, people with disabilities, seniors, and partners, gathered for an event themed “With You It’s Magic+”. A truly moving moment came when a former Wish child and their family shared their Disney Wish story. They recounted everything from a warm hug with a favorite character to heartfelt greetings from guests and Cast Members. It perfectly showcased the incredible, life-changing power a Disney Wish holds for children battling serious illnesses and their families.

Since 2017, Shanghai Disney Resort has partnered closely with non-profit organizations like Make-A-Wish Shanghai. Together, they create unforgettable wishes for children facing severe illnesses, bringing immense joy and inspiration to countless families across mainland China. That 500th wish granted last week was truly a landmark moment!

As Shanghai Disney Resort gears up for its own 10th anniversary, it’s wonderful to see them celebrate this journey with all the community partners who help spread happiness. Looking forward, the resort promises to keep using the magic of storytelling and innovation to push for environmental care, inspire young minds, create positive social change, and champion inclusivity in every community they touch.
