Get ready for a whole new vibe in Toy Story Land! Starting Friday, September 25, Alien Swirling Saucers at Disney’s Hollywood Studios gets a fresh soundtrack, thanks to a brand-new toy from Toy Story 5.
Meet Lilypad, a spirited, frog-shaped smart tablet making her debut from the newest Disney-Pixar film, Toy Story 5! She’s joining Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear in Andy’s backyard, and she’s here to connect all your favorite toys with an all-new soundtrack for Alien Swirling Saucers: “Lilypad’s Jams”!
DJ Lilypad takes over the turntables, bringing a fresh mix of reimagined Toy Story classics and brand-new tunes created exclusively for this attraction. Trust me, you’ll want to ride again and again! Lilypad is the musical genius, using her internet connection to remix and mashup various styles and genres.
Our amazing Imagineers headed to Nashville to record this soundtrack, collaborating with world-class musicians. They really pushed the boundaries, blending pop, country, EDM, and alt-rock. Thomas Niederhiser, a Senior Creative Producer at Walt Disney Imagineering, told us they wanted a completely fresh approach. They took those beloved Toy Story songs and mixed them with new, catchy originals – think singable, sincere, and yes, a little cheesy, especially the one about Pizza Planet!
It’s incredible to see how much thought goes into even the smallest details to enhance our park experience!
We all know and love the iconic songs from the Toy Story films that pull us right into the characters’ adventures. Imagineers reimagined favorites like “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” “We Belong Together,” and “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away,” giving them a brand-new, swirling energy perfect for Alien Swirling Saucers.
But it’s not just remixes! They also crafted brand-new songs inspired by the films, like the ‘deep crust’ cut “Pizza Planet Promo” – an in-story theme song for our beloved pizza arcade – and “Spin It Back, Lilypad,” a special tribute to our newest toy in Andy’s backyard.
Geoff Line, Senior Story Lead at Walt Disney Imagineering, shared his excitement: “Collaborating with Pixar to write for these characters and expand their stories is pure joy. We played with these toys as kids. Now we get to play with them as Imagineers. It doesn’t get better than that!” And with Lilypad spinning tracks, expect to see even more of your favorite toys, like ‘Partysaurus Rex,’ getting plenty of screen time – or should I say, playtime!
Guess what? You don’t even need to hop on a saucer to join the fun! Lilypad DJs for all honorary toys in the backyard, whether you’re riding Alien Swirling Saucers or just hanging out. When you’re off the attraction, you can sing along as DJ Lily introduces tracks from her playlist. She even offers extra entertainment between songs! Try to guess her doodles on her drawing app, help unscramble puzzles, or watch ‘home videos’ she’s recorded of your favorite Toy Story pals. How cool is that?
Since 1995, the Toy Story films have connected with audiences globally, and now, with Toy Story 5, new generations are creating their own memories. We’re thrilled to welcome Lilypad to Andy’s backyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, bringing her ‘Lilypad’s Jams’ to Alien Swirling Saucers starting Friday, September 25. By the way, Toy Story 5 starts streaming on Disney+ on September 23!
