Who is Tom Morrow 2.0?
Get ready to meet your host: Tom Morrow 2.0! This quirky mini-matronic robot isn’t new to the scene. Many of you might remember him from EPCOT’s Innoventions, where he first charmed guests with his insatiable curiosity (and his cool car!). He quickly became a fan-favorite, and yes, his car is back – though Imagineers confirm Innoventions is not.
He was also the star of the original ‘Imagineer That!’ segments on Disney Channel in the early 2000s. Back then, Tom explored the science, storytelling, and incredible engineering behind everything that makes Disney Parks magical – from thrilling rides to dazzling fireworks and lifelike Audio-Animatronics. Basically, anything that goes “boom,” “whoosh,” or “sparkles”!
Where Has Tom Been?
So, where has Tom been all this time? After his Innoventions run wrapped up in 2007, Tom “retired” to the bustling halls of Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale, California. He spent his days recharging, running diagnostics, and let’s be honest, probably picking up a few secrets while eavesdropping on Imagineers (and silently judging their coffee choices, naturally).
Sounds like a pretty good downtime, right? But with so much incredible new magic being cooked up by Imagineers worldwide, curiosity about their work is at an all-time high. People want to know what’s happening behind those closed doors!
That’s why the Imagineers decided it was time to “reboot the old circuits” – their words, not his – because Tom Morrow 2.0 is the perfect robot for the job. A dedicated team of Imagineers from across different departments jumped into action to bring Tom back online. They updated him on the latest trends, gave him a full system upgrade with extra charm, and even refurbished his iconic car and workspace. Now, he’s fully ready for his big comeback!
