A brand new Disney resort is taking shape at Walt Disney World! Get ready to explore Disney Lakeshore Lodge, a nature-inspired retreat set to open its doors in summer 2027. We’ve been following the progress closely, and we have some exciting new details to share about this tranquil escape on Bay Lake.
The Wetlands is a huge outdoor recreation space right outside the lobby, designed for pure relaxation and fun. Imagine unwinding, surrounded by the stunning beauty of Bay Lake! For the little ones, there are whimsical wet and dry play areas. They’re inspired by Pocahontas – think “the heron and the otter are my friends” from “Colors of the Wind” brought to life. It’s all about celebrating playful connections with nature.

Kids can explore Heron Shores with its imaginative climbing features. Just around the corner, Otter Springs offers interactive water fun where they can splash and slide. Need to chill out? The lazy Daydream River takes you on a slow float through the recreation area, perfect for soaking in the scenery.

At the center, Lakeside Lagoon is the main zero-entry pool for all ages, complete with a spiral waterslide. Plus, on the quieter side of the resort, Perspective Pond features a leisure pool and a whirlpool spa, offering amazing views of Magic Kingdom fireworks at night. Whether you want a calm morning float or a sunset view over Bay Lake, The Wetlands balances beauty and tranquility with plenty of discovery and play.
Keep an eye out for plaques along the scenic path, revealing fun facts about local wildlife and even a nod to a historic attraction that once stood here. Staying here means you’re just a boat ride away from Magic Kingdom! Walt Disney World resort guests get special benefits, like free transportation around the resort and extra time in the parks. It’s the full Disney magic experience.

So, let’s talk about the resort itself! Disney Lakeshore Lodge is designed as a waterfront retreat, a place where you and your loved ones can truly discover nature’s wonder, all through Disney’s incredible storytelling. It opens in summer 2027 at Walt Disney World Resort.
The whole place celebrates nature’s beauty and magic, viewed through the lens of Disney artists. Walt Disney himself loved the great outdoors, and this resort really honors that. You’ll find subtle nods to classic animated stories rooted in nature everywhere – from the deep forests of Bambi and the vibrant world of Pocahontas to the grand glaciers of Brother Bear.
Perched on the calm shores of Bay Lake, the Lodge encourages families to slow down and make lasting memories. Huge floor-to-ceiling windows let natural light flood in, offering incredible views of the local plants and wildlife. It feels like the outdoors just flow right into the building’s design and atmosphere.
The resort will offer 967 rooms. From cozy studios to spacious suites, there’s a stay for everyone. Many rooms offer peaceful Bay Lake views during the day and amazing Magic Kingdom fireworks views at night. And for an even closer connection to nature, look out for the new one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses right on the waterfront! They give families plenty of space to relax and reconnect. We can’t wait to share more about the dining, recreation, and unique design details that will bring this nature-filled magic to life.
