Studio Tram Tour: Behind the Magic was the last attraction at Walt Disney Studios Park to take a behind-the-scenes tour of the cinema for 18 minutes including shots on real movie sets, famous props, vehicles and even a demonstration of special effects.

Studio Tram Tour had four trams, each with 210 passengers that can run simultaneously, behind the scenes of Walt Disney Studios. The concept of the attraction was based on that of its predecessor in 1989 of the former Disney-MGM Studios in Florida. The Disneyland Paris version had the distinction of evolving with video presentations broadcast inside the tram.

If the Tram Tour station had 6 queues lines, it was because from the beginning each car had a movie actor speaking in his native language. This brilliant idea was ultimately not followed because of the unequal interest of visitors in certain lines following languages. The actors broadcast were:

    ● Irene Jacob for France,
    ● Jeremy Irons for the UK,
    ● Nastassja Kinski for Germany,
    ● Femke Janssen for the Netherlands,
    ● Isabella Rossellini for Italy,
    ● Inès Sastre for Spain.

We still discover those stars at the end of the film to say “good bye” to visitors on board the tram until the definitive closure.

The interest of the Studio Tram Tour was to see famous accessories and decorative elements such as cars and stage of “Dinotopia”, Pearl Harbor and The Reign of Fire but also to enjoy physical effects with the inevitable Catastrophe Canyon! This highly specialized outdoor platform featuring large-scale special effects plunges visitors into the midst of natural disasters, while the tram takes turns experiencing an earthquake, a fire, explosions and a flood.

Tram Tour Studios followed a scenic tour to guide and to provide multiple information about how a studio works to visitors

    ● Backlot Sets
    ● Visual Effects – Dinotopia
    ● Physical Effects – featuring Catastrophe Canyon
    ● Costumes
    ● Star Cars – Pearl Harbor, The Rock, Runaway Bride, 102 Dalmatians …
    ● Production Design – featuring Reign of Fire

Did you know that? The large Studio Tram Tour – Behind the Magic billboard, which overlooked the entrance to the attraction until 2007, was designed by Drew Struzan, an artist best known for his posters from the Indiana Jones, Star Wars or Back to the Future sagas.

Voici quelques photos du dernier jour d’exploitation de l’attraction :

Here are some pictures from the last operating day of the ride :

Although Studio Tram Tour is now a thing of the past, this summer Catastrophe Canyon and the trams will come out again with a “new adventure” on the theme of Cars Movies entitled “Route 66 Road Trip”!

For the time being, the new road is being prepared through the wooded area. The land is ready to accommodate the future station of the attraction.

In addition, we hope to no longer see the back of the canyon structure now that the theme of the attraction is no longer the “studio”.

Concequently, at the beginning of January 2020, Walt Disney Studios has no more than 10 attractions, most of which are low capacity and only two restaurants (one quick service and one table service). Unprecedented in the history of Disney theme parks in the world! Let’s hope that the management will take action for tickets 1 day / 1 park , such as the first five years of opening of the park as early as 2002 (access to a second park from 4pm).

At the same time, the offer of catering has been more and more deplorable since September 2019, especially in Disneyland Park. The situation worsens with the closure without alternative to Videopolis. As a reminder, Videopolis is one of the largest quick service restaurants in Europe and the only restaurant in Discoveryland! It just closed its doors for a month until febuary 2020. Moreover, since 5 months, 2/3 of the outdoor stands are closed, never seen before. Restaurant lines exceed one hour of waiting at lunchtime on weekends.

In more the quick service restaurant Cowboy Cookout Barbecue has been at an all-you-can-eat half buffet since the mid-December for 35€ (far too expensive for quality and quantity). The quick service Hakuna Matata restaurant no longer offers its themed corn fries, but standard french fries as all others restaurations points. In fantasyland, “Chalet de la Marionette” exit the food specialities replaced by a hot sandwish. Finally, Toad Hall and Walt’s – an American restaurant are shut down indefinitely. It is sad to see a decline in the variety of catering on the eve of the traditional spring rate increases on the whole site.

When you think that France is the country of gastronomy and that Disneyland Paris is the worst Resort in terms of quality and service in catering. There is still a lot of work to be done.

And it is on this last Map that we leave you, you will see the offer in restaurants, shop, and attractions that the destination offers visitors every night since a few months.

This situation is unworthy of a Disney destination and leaves us dubious for our next visits. Visitor satisfaction is impacted since last September.

    Thank you for your loyalty.
    See ya real soon !
