With Andy and his family away, you, an honorary toy, are invited to explore! Get ready for adventure, fun, and play with your favorite friends. And with Toy Story 5 around the corner, it’s the perfect time to revisit this incredible land at Walt Disney World. So, with a snake in your boot and a knack for falling with style, let’s uncover some of the hidden secrets you might have missed!
Peek Inside the Toy Story Mania! Queue
Toy Story Mania! isn’t just a ride; its queue is an experience in itself, inviting you to test your skills at carnival-style midway games.
As you step into the Toy Story Mania! Midway Games Play Set, Woody and Mr. Potato Head greet you, both wearing 3-D glasses. Jessie and Rex stand nearby, welcoming guests, while illustrated carnival booths show playful scenes – Mr. Potato Head tossing baseballs, Woody hooking horseshoes as Bullseye watches on.
Head inside the queue, and the subtle, hidden details really start to multiply. Look closely and you’ll spot:
Classic midway games featuring iconic Toy Story characters (my favorite is Mrs. Potato Head as a fortune teller with her crystal ball!)
Monkeys from the Barrel of Monkeys set
Sheep from the Little Bo Peep’s Lost Her Sheep board game
A vintage View-Master reel with stills from Tomorrowland at Disneyland from yesteryear
Next, you’ll enter another oversized toy “box.” It’s a cardboard box Andy must have gotten from Al’s Toy Barn, filled with a nostalgic mix of classic playroom staples like Lincoln Logs, UNO cards, Monopoly money, and an Etch A Sketch. Hopefully, he’s not urgently drawing a man in a chicken suit!
Here, you’ll also find an amazing Mr. Potato Head Audio-Animatronics figure and more of Andy’s artwork. Keep an eye out for a drawing of Woody and Buzz teaming up in Buzz’s spaceship, a coloring book page of Woody and Jessie tossing pies at the Prospector, and a page from Buzz’s BIG Activity Book.
After grabbing your 3-D glasses, step into Andy’s room – complete with his signature cloud wallpaper – and get ready to play. As you hop into your ride vehicle, Spring-Action Shooter in hand, you’ll pass under a towering Tinkertoy structure, and an unassuming box with a barcode.
Look closely at that barcode: it displays “121506.” This small, easily missed detail is actually a nod to December 15, 2006, the date the attraction was first announced at Walt Disney World.
Once you’re off to the five booths and the gameplay kicks into high gear, even more hidden gems appear. Andy’s toys, games, books, and drawings are scattered throughout each scene, alongside Silly Snack Stand pieces themed after various Toy Story characters:
Slinky’s Corn Dogs
Wheezy’s Snow Cones
Rocky Gibralter’s Taffy
Pizza Planet To Go
Hockey Puck’s Ice Cream Bars (a reference to a famous line by the late Don Rickles, Mr. Potato Head’s voice actor)
But my absolute favorite detail comes at the very end. As you return to the loading station and drop off your 3-D glasses, you’ll spot an opened Little Golden Book titled Tin Toy. This tiny detail takes me back to my childhood, watching Toy Story on VHS. It’s a direct homage to Pixar’s 1988 animated short, which won the studio its first Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film and inspired this beloved franchise.
Every clever detail like this makes you feel like you’ve truly stepped into a playset with endless possibilities.
Race Through Andy’s Backyard on Slinky Dog Dash
Andy took pieces and packaging from his Dash & Dodge Mega Coaster Kit, added a big dose of imagination, and built a roller coaster right in his backyard! The result? A fast-paced, smooth ride where Slinky Dog launches, dips, twists, and stretches around a custom track, surrounded by toys Andy carefully positioned along the way.
Slinky Dog, Andy’s original springy dachshund toy, takes center stage here. And boy, is this ride packed with hidden details in both the queue and the attraction itself!
As you make your way through the queue, keep your eyes peeled for playful, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it details like:
Buster’s dog tag, a small nod to Andy’s loyal pup
Crayola crayons, a bottle of Elmer’s glue, and a plastic wrench, all used to assemble and secure the various coaster pieces

As you board your Slinky Dog train and prepare to zoom off, glance to your left. You’ll spot packaging for a T. rex action figure. It looks way more intimidating than our cuddly Rex, but it might just be his original packaging!
And speaking of Rex and friends, shortly after the first launch, you’ll pass Jessie and Andy’s timid dinosaur toy, precariously teetering atop a column of Jenga blocks (dangerously missing a few pieces!) as they try to hang a string of Christmas lights to illuminate the track.
After racing over hills and around several bends, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of Toy Story Land. Enjoy picturesque glimpses of Alien Swirling Saucers and Buzz Lightyear, offering a unique perspective you won’t find anywhere else in the land.
Finally, as you head back to the station, you’ll spot an Audio-Animatronics figure of Wheezy singing in front of a book titled Mr. Pricklepants Songs for Singing. The book is open to the sheet music for You’ve Got a Friend in Me. Wheezy sits on blocks spelling F-U-N, surrounded by toy packages for a 3-D puzzle and our favorite hero, RC. Remember how RC helped Woody and Buzz escape Scud in Toy Story? What a legend!
Just beyond, find Mr. Spell, perched on a Rubik’s Cube and flashing familiar Toy Story phrases in his signature digital readout. Take a look and decode a few of the messages below:

Spin into Space on Alien Swirling Saucers
Andy loves Pizza Planet, and he finally racked up enough tickets to bring home his dream: the Alien Swirling Saucers play set! He even combined it with his heroic Star Command set to create an epic intergalactic adventure right in his backyard, with Buzz Lightyear’s spaceship watching over everything.
As you pass Buzz Lightyear and enter beneath the crossed pizza paddles of two guard-bots (just like at the entrance to Pizza Planet in Toy Story), head to the covered Star Command play set. Here, three modules feature hands-on play elements, inviting you to immediately step into the action:
Mission Briefing: Press a rocker button, help locate trouble, identify the problem (meteor shower, robot drones, or Emperor Zurg), and recommend Buzz’s next move (pulsating laser or karate chop action).
Star Command Scanner: Spin a knob to show Buzz in action against these various threats.
Operation Delta: Assess tactical responses by instructing Buzz to defy detection, destroy defenses, or ultimately defeat Zurg.
Once you’ve made your way through the queue and hopped into your rocket, more hidden details come into play. Each rocket boasts its own color combo and a cool pepperoni pizza slice design.
Look up on your trip and you’ll spot The Claw selecting an Alien above one of the turntables, while the center of the ride platform appears to be half of a pizza planet itself. Meanwhile, scattered pieces of pepperoni and mushroom (not every topping choice is a winner, Andy) deck the area around the attraction. A nearby Alien wearing goggles and a jetpack may look veeeeery similar to the same Alien featured in the Buzz Lightyear’s Flying Tossers game in Toy Story Mania!
Did you know the Alien Swirling Saucers building takes its cues from Googie architecture? This futuristic style, popular in the 50s and 60s, drew inspiration from car culture and space travel. Expect bold curves and geometric shapes; even the roof looks like a flying saucer!
And the soundtrack? It’s pure energy! Imagine EDM meets classic Toy Story tunes. You’ll glide and spin to ‘electronic space music,’ feeling like you’re at a Disney-fied Coachella. Listen for a playful mix of futuristic beats and familiar melodies, like:

Refuel During Snack Time at Woody’s Lunch Box
If Toy Story 2 is your favorite, you’ll love Woody’s Lunch Box! It brings elements of the Woody’s Roundup TV show to life through subtle nods. Andy even brought his vintage lunch box and a giant, character-themed thermos to his backyard, perfect for refuelling during playtime.
This outdoor spot is full of clever, makeshift details. Umbrellas made from Tinkertoy pieces? Plastic tables and chairs Andy probably “borrowed” from his sister Molly’s dollhouse? Genius!
Look closely and you’ll find even more hidden stories. An elevated observation tower made of K’nex pieces hints that Sarge and the Green Army Men are keeping watch while Andy is away – you might even hear their quiet chatter about ongoing training exercises!
Nearby, seating and decor are ingeniously constructed from everyday lunch items like toothpicks, tape, Babybel cheese wheels, and repurposed packaging materials.
While enjoying a BBQ Brisket Melt or a refreshing ice cream float, grab a photo with a giant Mini Babybel held by one of Andy’s Green Army Men! And don’t miss the note Andy’s mom left in his lunch box, reading, “You’re my favorite deputy!”
Giddy Up for a Good Time at Roundup Rodeo
At Roundup Rodeo BBQ, Andy has transformed cardboard, paper, and craft supplies into an entire arena! It’s all inspired by Woody’s Roundup and some of the toys’ adventures from the films. The whole space feels handmade, with visible tape, hand-drawn details, and set pieces from western towns and train station play sets.
Inside, you’ll see playful nods to Woody, Jessie, Bullseye, and others, all reimagined as part of Andy’s DIY western rodeo. Signs feature Andy’s youthful handwriting, and props are clever repurposings, like a milk carton! And always that feeling that everyone might freeze if Andy suddenly appears.
Bo Peep and her sheep are ready to participate in the rodeo, and a huge display of Jessie riding a Trixie pull toy makes for an awesome photo op!
Every meal here fits right into Andy’s latest western-themed creation. Get ready to feast on Combat Carloflower, Buttercup’s Beef Brisket, or Evil Dr. Smoked Ribs.
