Get ready, explorers! A new mystery from the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (S.E.A.) has just landed, and your detective skills are urgently needed. We’re on the hunt for a cunning thief, and you can help us crack the case right from your home!
Remember D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event back in August? Imagineers showed us an ancient, sealed S.E.A. crate. Everyone was eager to see what was inside. But when they finally opened it, instead of a grand artifact, they found only a pile of bricks and a cryptic note!
Turns out, a thief stole a valuable S.E.A. artifact, and they’re leaving behind riddles as clues to their identity. Each riddle reveals a scrambled letter, and once we put them all together, we’ll unmask a brand-new S.E.A. character! You can solve these riddles online by looking at images of Disneyland. Yes, Disneyland serves as the inspiration, but you can do it all from your couch.
Bonnie Booker, an S.E.A. Archivist, is our go-to person for this adventure. She calls this the ultimate test for honorary S.E.A. field researchers. She’s been sharing clues and riddles on the Walt Disney Imagineering Instagram page. Let’s recap what we know so far!
Our first riddle, discovered by Bonnie, seems to hint at Main Street, U.S.A. What do you think? Here’s the next one she sent:
Astute explorers think this one may be referencing the Lilly Belle car on the Disneyland Railroad. And here’s the third riddle we’ve received:
In addition to this riddle, Bonnie also found a potentially relevant clipping in the S.E.A. archives from a newsletter dated March 1886. It looks like a huge piece of the puzzle!
At this point, we’ve gathered so much information about this mysterious thief that Bonnie decided it was time to compile everything and see what we have discovered. As she put it, “We’ve answered many questions but only brought up more!” So far, including the third riddle, the letters we’ve solved for are: T, L, and A. Remember, these letters are scrambled and in the wrong order!
Through these riddles, we have also learned the following about the thief:
- They were rejected from the Society of Explorers and Adventurers.
- They potentially stole the “Ridge Jewel” mentioned in the 1886 news clipping.
- They somehow leave clues across different time periods. Talk about a time-traveling criminal!

This one seems to all but confirm that the Ridge Jewel is our missing artifact! But if the Jewel was found in Rainbow Ridge in 1886…how could the thief be leaving riddles for us to find today? This thief is definitely a time-traveler! Luckily, the fifth riddle Bonnie found gives us a bit more information:
Mention after mention in the riddles of what we can safely assume is the Ridge Jewel! But who stole it? And when? All we can do is wait patiently for Bonnie Booker to uncover more clues.
