June 17, 2026: Get Your First Look at The Wetlands!
When Disney Lakeshore Lodge opens its doors in summer 2027, guests can explore The Wetlands, a huge outdoor recreation area right next to the lobby. Imagine relaxing and reconnecting with nature, all while surrounded by the beauty of Bay Lake.
The team designed The Wetlands for both thrilling fun and peaceful relaxation. Younger guests will love becoming part of nature’s story in the whimsical wet and dry play areas. These spaces draw inspiration from the music and storytelling of Disney Animation Studios’ Pocahontas, specifically those beautiful lyrics from “Colors of the Wind” – “the heron and the otter are my friends.” It’s all about celebrating those playful connections you find in nature!
Heron Shores invites kids to explore with imaginative climbing features. Just around the riverbend, Otter Springs bursts to life with interactive water features, perfect for little ones to cool off and splash. And nearby, the lazy Daydream River is waiting for you to float along, soaking in the views of the lush landscape.
At the very heart of The Wetlands, you’ll find Lakeside Lagoon, the resort’s zero-entry main pool. It’s where guests of all ages can gather under the Florida sun, complete with a spiral waterslide for a refreshing plunge. The resort’s design subtly pays tribute to decades of animated stories rooted in nature, with nods to classics like the lush forests of Bambi, the colorful winds of Pocahontas, and the sweeping glacial landscapes of Brother Bear.
Nestled right on the tranquil shores of Bay Lake, Disney Lakeshore Lodge invites families to slow down, truly take in their surroundings, and create cherished memories together. Massive floor-to-ceiling windows will flood the spaces with natural sunlight, offering incredible views of the local flora and fauna.
