Ever wondered what makes dining at Walt Disney World so special? It’s more than just food; it’s the passion of the incredible chefs behind every dish.

Today, we dive into the stories of five talented Disney chefs. They all share a unique gift: transforming simple meals into unforgettable memories for every guest, drawing from their diverse backgrounds and inspirations.

Chef Alex at Be Our Guest Restaurant

Meet Chef Alex from Be Our Guest Restaurant at Magic Kingdom. When she talks about her career, her focus isn’t just on the delicious food, but on her amazing team – the Cast Members.

She puts it simply: “You might have the same meal twice, but it’s the Cast who make it different.”

As a sous chef at one of Magic Kingdom’s most iconic restaurants, Alex leads almost 100 culinary Cast Members. Her job involves serving thousands of guests, but what truly drives her is helping her team grow. She’s paying it forward, remembering how Disney leaders helped her develop when she started her journey through the Disney Culinary Program.

For Alex, the magic you feel at your table starts long before you even sit down. It begins backstage, when Cast Members feel supported, valued, and confident in their creations.

“When people feel cared for, they naturally pass that feeling on,” she shares. “Guests might come for a meal, but the lasting memory often comes from the people who made it special.”

This dedication to care and connection extends to kitchens all over Walt Disney World, where food also becomes a wonderful way to celebrate culture and truly immerse guests in the stories around them.

    Chef Carlos at EPCOT

Growing up in Puerto Rico, Chef Carlos quickly understood that life’s most cherished moments often unfold around a dinner table. Family gatherings brimmed with lively talk, laughter, and lovingly prepared food.

Now, at Le Cellier Steakhouse in EPCOT’s Canada pavilion, Carlos aims to recreate that very same sense of connection for guests. He works closely with the Cultural Representatives from Canada, truly listening to their stories and perspectives to infuse authentic Canadian storytelling into every dish.

He believes: “Every conversation, every cultural perspective, every idea shared in the kitchen helps shape the experience guests have at the table. That’s what makes food powerful. It can help someone feel connected to a place they may be visiting for the first time.”

In a park designed to celebrate global unity, this is exactly what Carlos cherishes most. For him, the connection starts not with a physical place, but with the people enjoying the meal.

Chef Koli at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Chef Koli Finds Inspiration in People at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Most chefs turn to cookbooks for inspiration. But Chef Koli? He finds it in people.

Whether he’s chatting with guests at their tables or exploring the latest food trends, Koli constantly asks questions. What truly excites our guests? Which flavors will surprise them? How can we make their day even more unforgettable?

This incredible curiosity started in his childhood in Africa. He watched his mother lovingly transform ingredients from their family farm into meals that brought the entire community together. He still vividly remembers how people talked about the joy and comfort those meals brought them.

Today, he channels that same philosophy into his work at Hollywood Studios, crafting dishes inspired by the very people who gather to enjoy them. If you visit Backlot Express, keep an eye out! You might just see him connecting with guests – many of his best culinary ideas have sprung simply from listening to their feedback.

This spirit of discovery takes on a different form at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, where food plays a key role in deepening the immersive worlds guests explore.

Chef Charles at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Chef Charles lives for that moment when a guest tries something truly unexpected. That’s his secret: turning a simple meal into an unforgettable memory.

At Satu’li Canteen, nestled within Pandora – The World of Avatar, he crafts dishes that strike a perfect balance. They’re comforting enough to feel familiar, yet adventurous enough to ignite your curiosity. Every single ingredient, every flavor profile, every menu choice ties directly into the grand story guests experience all around them.

As he says: “A dish should never feel interchangeable. It should taste like it belongs exactly where you found it.”

This philosophy truly shines at Animal Kingdom, where food becomes an integral part of the environment, the atmosphere, and the thrilling sense of discovery. Whether he draws inspiration from real-world cultural traditions or the fantastical realms of imagined worlds, his goal remains constant: to completely immerse guests in the captivating story surrounding them.

For Charles, this is where cooking transcends a mere craft. It becomes a powerful tool to transport someone, spark their imagination, and make a place feel richer and more alive.

    Chef Gregory at The Ganachery

Gregory Sweetens the Experience at The Ganachery, Disney Springs

For Gregory, the most meaningful moments often come with a sweet touch. As an assistant sous chef chocolatier at The Ganachery, he lights up when the team creates handcrafted confections with tropical flavors like guava, passion fruit, and coconut.

These flavors are deeply personal to Gregory, allowing him to share a piece of his Salvadoran heritage with every bite.

“We want to make something guests love. Knowing they are coming to taste what we create is very humbling,” he says.

Beyond the exquisite chocolate itself, Gregory truly cherishes the connections he forms with guests from all over the world. He serves up treats crafted with immense passion and care, always with a smile.

Whether he’s helping you pick the perfect flavor or sharing in the delight of your first taste, Gregory understands how those small interactions create a lasting impact. That’s what he loves most about his role: crafting something beautiful, sharing it generously, and forging a sweet connection, one guest at a time.
