  • Behind the Illusions: Disneyland Paris SFX Teams Reveal Their Magic to Cast Members

Ever wondered how the incredible magic at Disneyland Paris truly comes to life? The park recently offered a rare glimpse behind the curtain, inviting Cast Members to explore the fascinating world of its Special Effects (SFX) teams. On September 8, these backstage wizards opened their doors, showcasing the incredible artistry and technology that powers the park’s most breathtaking shows and experiences.

Imagine seeing the very machines that create those stunning effects, touching props from your favorite shows, or even diving into virtual reality simulations! Throughout the day, Cast Members discovered the many facets of a department dedicated to bringing our beloved stories to life every single day.

A Deep Dive into Special Effects

The SFX teams carefully designed several areas to give Cast Members a concrete look at their work. One exhibition showcased various props and equipment used in productions. Department Cast Members eagerly shared their expertise, demonstrating the machines that conjure some of the most spectacular on-stage effects.

Visiting Cast Members could also experience an immersive virtual reality session, and then capture their visit at a photo point featuring captivating effects like spark fountains and bubbles. This was a rare chance to see up close devices usually hidden from view. As one curious attendee put it: “I saw special effects I had never seen before. It’s very impressive and quite unique to observe.”

Beyond the workshops and exhibitions, several live happenings punctuated the day on the Théâtre des Stars stage. These demonstrations allowed the teams to present special effects in real-world conditions, clearly illustrating the techniques used in various Disneyland Paris shows.

In total, over 500 Cast Members attended these special open doors throughout the day.

An Exclusive Show to Conclude the Event

To cap off this extraordinary day, the Special Effects teams had one last surprise: a brand-new show created exclusively for the occasion. This grand finale saw the collaboration of several other Disneyland Paris departments, truly highlighting the teamwork behind the magic.

Before an audience of over 1,100 Cast Members, the teams unleashed the full extent of their expertise. The show was a blend of diverse effects, rich in emotion, leaving everyone in awe.

What a spectacular way to end the day! It truly celebrated the unsung heroes who, from behind the scenes, master fire, water, smoke, and countless other effects every day, all to help tell the captivating stories of Disneyland Paris.

    A Peek into Recruitment

Did you know that virtual reality also plays a role in recruiting future Cast Members for the Special Effects teams? Using VR headsets, candidates face situations directly inspired by their future work environment. The goal isn’t just to assess their knowledge or ease; this experience primarily sparks meaningful discussions with recruiters based on a concrete, real-world scenario.
