The holiday season at Disneyland Resort is easily one of the most magical times to visit. Beyond the parades and treats, the real stars are the seasonal ride overlays that transform classic attractions into festive experiences.

Every year, several favorite rides across the resort get a complete makeover. Music, storytelling, and thoughtful details come together to give these attractions a festive perspective that fans look forward to all year long.
Haunted Mansion Holiday
Jack Skellington and the crew from Halloween Town take over the Mansion, blending Christmas cheer with spooky fun. As you board your black sleigh, look out for Sally and Zero among the graveyard ghosts interacting with the familiar spirits.
The centerpiece of the ballroom is always the massive, custom-built gingerbread house. Disney Live Entertainment creates a new design every season, filling the room with a delicious, spicy scent that takes you back to Christmas of yesteryear.

There is a cool detail for those who pay attention to the technical side: Walt Disney Imagineers recently updated the Oogie Boogie figure near the end of the ride with a new pose and silhouette design. Also, look for Madame Leota; the holiday version features the face of Imagineer Kim Irvine, daughter of the original Madame Leota, Leota Toombs.

“it’s a small world” Holiday
Since 1997, this ride has become a holiday staple. You will hear a clever mashup of the classic theme song with Jingle Bells and Deck the Halls as you sail past scenes representing holiday traditions from the South Pacific to Europe.
The exterior remains one of the best photo spots in the park. At night, the facade comes to life with thousands of twinkling lights. It is a tradition for many families to stop here for a picture before heading into the Seven Seaways canal.

Cars Land Festivities
Over at Disney California Adventure, the residents of Radiator Springs give their town a high-octane holiday spirit with themed music and plenty of personality.
Mater’s Jingle Jamboree
Mater hosts a holiday hoedown in his junkyard. The tractors spin to seasonal songs featuring Mater’s unique lyrics and humor. If you look closely at the queue, you will find several hidden details and Easter eggs tucked into the festive decor.
Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl
Down the street, Luigi and his family celebrate with Italian holiday tunes. The cars perform synchronized dances and pivots to a wintry soundtrack, making you feel like you are part of a choreographed performance.

Extra Holiday Magic
If you look closer, you will find holiday details tucked away in every corner. There is a skipper-themed tree near the Jungle Cruise exit in Adventureland and tiny wreaths on the Main Street Vehicles. If you are planning a winter getaway, check for seasonal ticket offers or hotel packages that often include special discounts for multi-day stays during the holiday period.
