Space Mountain: From the Earth to the Moon Returns to Disneyland Paris!
In 1995, Space Mountain – From the Earth to the Moon blazed a trail for Disneyland Paris guests, with its unique blend of thrills, global innovations, retro-futuristic aesthetics, and a captivating storyline based on Jules Verne’s classic novel, ‘From the Earth to the Moon.’ Over the years, this much-loved attraction continued to evolve, discovering new destinations and galaxies, as well as new dreams for daring guests eager to be catapulted among the stars by the 22-meter-long Columbiad Cannon. For the past decade, guests have blasted off to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, on a secret mission for the Rebel Alliance. Now, a whole new generation of guests will get to experience the attraction’s original theme, as the upcoming refurbishment “brings the Moon back” to the heart of this iconic attraction! Walt Disney Imagineering Paris is currently hard at work designing the refreshed aesthetic of the attraction, as Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain prepares to close in late 2027 for a multi-month refurbishment.
Beyond significant technical work and some maintenance enhancements, the attraction’s interior sets and props, enhanced queue, and new effects will return the beloved “mountain” to its original vision with a re-oriented 1995 storyline, now transporting guests to an idealized era of early lunar travel, in the steampunk style of Discoveryland. Nostalgic fans can expect special effects to enhance the iconic “blast-off” sequence!

For the Imagineers, the project goes beyond simply restoring the attraction’s original version. It’s an opportunity to celebrate this much-loved classic while enhancing it for a new generation. Fans will be thrilled to know that composer Steve Bramson’s iconic score will return fully remastered to accompany guests on their journey to the Moon! Right from the redesigned queue, guests will once again be able to observe the moving trains, immersing them deeper into the story. Along the way, beloved elements will return alongside new scenic details and enhancements. Combined with over 30 years of technological advancements, including state-of-the-art exterior dome lighting installed in 2025, Space Mountain: From the Earth to the Moon will continue to be a fan favorite.
“When Space Mountain first opened in 1995, it set a new standard as one of the most innovative and immersive roller coasters in any Disney Park. Today, as Imagineers, it’s both an honor and a stimulating challenge to reimagine this iconic attraction for a new generation. While staying true to the spirit and legacy of the original journey, this new version will utilize all the cutting-edge innovations and technologies introduced over the years into the attraction, to deliver an even more thrilling experience for our guests,” said Keith Rector, Senior Manager, Creative Art Direction at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris.

Space Mountain – From the Earth to the Moon will mark a decisive step in a new phase of the recently launched “New Magic” initiative at Disneyland Paris. This ambitious program aims to enhance the guest experience and refresh its classic attractions to surprise and delight all generations of guests. Most recently, enhanced scenic elements were added to the banks of the Rivers of the Far West in Frontierland, based on the original designs by Disney Legend and Imagineer Marc Davis, with several other projects at various stages of development to be unveiled in phases. Led by the Walt Disney Imagineering Paris team, whose remarkable passion fuels every concept, design, and construction, these projects are just the beginning of many more exceptional moments to come for Disneyland Paris.
