Star Tours Original Version Closes at Disneyland Paris
Bonjours à tous, aujourd’hui nous revenons sur la dernière de l’attraction Star Tours.
Hi everyone, Yesterday was the last flight to the Moon of Endor at DLP Star Tours attraction.
Hier, 16 mars 2016 a eu lieu la toute dernière aventure Star Tours dans sa forme originale, à Disneyland Paris et par conséquent dans le monde. L’occasion pour Disney de faire les choses en grand avec un parc privatisé pour le dernier voyage avec Rex.
Au programme, des rencontres Dark Vador et R2D2 dans l’Astroport, une conférence sur l’attraction, le protocole de fermeture et enfin l’accès illimité à l’Endor Express.
Yesterday, March 16, 2016 took place the last trip of Star Tours in its original version, not only at Disneyland Paris, but in all Disney parks. The opportunity for Disneyland Paris to make a big event with the park privatized for the last trip o Endor with Rex.
In the program, Darth Vader and R2D2 meetings at the Spaceport, a conference on the attraction, the closure protocol and, finally, unlimited access to the Endor Express.

La conférence, animée par Laurent Cayuela retrace la participation de George Lucas au projet de l’attraction, ses références, et détails. La surprise de cette réunion a été l’arrivée de l’acteur Luq Hamet, la voie de Rex dans le Starspeeder 3000, mais aussi le personnage Roger Rabbit ! C’est finalement entre des moments d’humour un de quizz et des images que la conférence s’est déroulée. Nous avons apprécié ce retour sur l’attraction et vous le proposons.

Star Tours en France a effectué plus de 3 250 000 de « premiers vols » vers la lune d’Endor et à parcouru 9,75 milliards de kilomètre en hyperespace en 8739 jours d’activités !

The conference, was hosted by Laurent Cayuela who talked about the participation of George Lucas at the attraction project, the ride references and details. The surprise of this meeting was the arrival of the actor Luq Hamett, who did the voice of REX in the Starspeeder in 3000, but alo the voice of the Roger Rabbit character in the movie! It’s ultimately between moments of humor and a quizz and images that the conference took place. We enjoyed these stories about the attraction.

Star Tours at DLP had more than 3.25 million « first flights » to the moon of Endor, and travelled 9.75 billion km in hyperspace in 8739 days!
L’attraction à vue ce dernier jour une faible affluence, comparé au week-end précédent. Un départ en douceur.
The attraction had this last day a small crowd compared to the previous weekend. A smooth ending, so.
Ces derniers jours, l’attraction n’était plus que l’ombre d’elle-même.
Il ne faut pas se le cacher, Star Tours dans sa version originale était dépassée. La maintenance peinait à faire face pour garder les Starspeeders en état, Chacun des 5 Starspeeders en fonction avait ses propres dysfonctionnements. Pour l’un la tête de Rex était bloquée en regardant vers le plafond, un autre la voix de Rex est quasiment inaudible, un autre la pellicule était mal projetée sur l’écran. Et enfin, le film e digne d’une cassette vidéo VHS méritait un passage au numérique. Dans la file d’attente aussi des éléments n’étaient plus opérationnels. A commencer par l’écran géant absent depuis plusieurs mois, tête de R2D2 ne tourne plus, C3PO souffrant de fluidité. De plus le X-Wing à l’entrée de l’attraction était en état de décomposition, peinture écaillée, joint qui dépassent et humidité apparente.
In recent days, the attraction was only a shadow of itself.
We must not hide the fact that Star Tours in its original version was outdated. Maintenance struggled to keep Starspeeders in good condition, and each of the five Starspeeders had its own dysfunctions. For one Rex head was stuck looking at the ceiling, in another Rex was almost inaudible, in another the film was poorly projected on the screen. And finally, the film worthy of a VHS videotape would deserve a switchover in a 4K digital version. In the queue, too, some elements were no longer operational. Starting with the giant screen absent since several months, or R2D2 head which didn’t rotated anymore, or also C3PO AA suffering to be fluid. Moreover, the X-Wing at the entrance of the attraction was in a state of decomposition, peeling paint, seal protruding and apparent moisture.
Enfin, aucune photo et vidéo n’ont été autorisées dans les simulateurs et les contrôles était multipliés pour cette soirée.
Bref vous l’aurez compris, c’est un adieu certes, mais un adieu désiré. La version 2 de l’attraction actuellement en chantier permettra d’offrir de la modernité à l’aventure et au parc en utilisant des technologies actuelles.
Finally, no photo and video have been authorized in the simulators and controls were increased during this special evening.
In short you’ll understand, that this is certainly a farewell, but a welcome farewell. Version two of the attraction is currently under construction and will provide modernity to the ride and to the park, using current technologies.
Protocole de fermeture de l’Astroport
Disney nous a offert là une bonne surprise, une animation entre clins d’œil, hommages et humour. Bien que l’on espérait plus de pyrotechnie, les procédures de la coupure secteur 2 avec G2-9T triste d’être encore débranché, puis secteur1 avec l’arrêt de la l’antenne principale et enfin le baissé de rideaux de l’astroport par LA FORCE…. De la gravité !
Ce protocole est un bel hommage aux Cast Members et à cette version mythique de Star Tours.
Closure protocol at the Spaceport
Disney has offered to us here a good surprise, animation between tributes and humor. Although we hoped more pyrotechnics, the power cut procedures of sector 2 with droid G2-9T sad to be disconnected and sector 1 with the stopping of the main antenna, and finally the curtain drop of the spaceport by the force…. of gravity!
This protocol is a tribute to Cast Members and this mythical original version of Star Tours.
Une page se tourne pour le meilleur à Disneyland Paris. Mais il reste à savoir comment les visiteurs vont accepter cette nouvelle fermeture d’attraction avec un parc qui en en offre de moins en moins. Des réhabilitations massives mais nécessaires, font immanquablement des retours visiteurs négatifs. Des personnages en plus dans les parcs ne suffisent pas à satisfaire le visiteur qui vient pour l’ambiance, là Disney est le champion du monde pour créer un univers et les attractions, nous en avons jamais eu aussi peu.
L’avenir nous dira comment Disney arrivera à gérer ces retours.
A page is turning for the better at Disneyland Paris. But it remains unclear how visitors will accept this new closure in park with that is currently offering less due to the others massive but necessary rehabs, bring inevitably negative feedbacks from visitors. More characters in the parks are not enough to satisfy the guests who come for the atmosphere, Disney is usually a World Champion to create a universe with attractions, but at DLP we never had so few operationnals.
Time will tell how DLP will do to handle these feedbacks.
